A billiard table is usually covered in 100% Baize, which is a smooth and wrinkle-free compact fabric. Pool and snooker tables nearly always use felt instead. Billiards is usually more of a premium feel build to the tables.
A pool table, in contrast, has six pockets, four of which are situated on each of the angles and two on the central point of each long side. Pool tables come in varying sizes of 7, 8, and 9 ft. in length. Some new style pool tables which are designed to fit in small flats or are used to double as a dining table in a dining room come in even smaller sizes of around 6ft.
Finally, snooker tables are bigger than billiard or pool tables. They are also lower and have smaller pockets, making the game much trickier. European snooker tables are usually 12 ft. x 6 ft. Snooker tables in the U.S. are slighter, measuring 10 ft. x 5ft.
