What UK workers crave most in an office is natural light

If you could get anything you sought into your working office, what would you ask for? A fireman’s pole down to the ground floor? A sweet shop? A pool table?

All of theabovenaturally apply, then again, when asked what things they appreciated most in the office, it turns out, Brits who spend most of their day in an office are a practical breed of people.

Forget fireman’s poles, soft play areas that make you feel like a kid, and skateboard ramps, according to a new survey of 1,000 UK office workers, all we actually desire most is a little natural light and a spotless office desk, free of clutter. A nice pool table wouldn’t go amiss either.

3.  Regular cleaning (52%)
4.  Good kitchen facilities (44%)
5.  Good safety/ security (38%)
6.  A café/bar/restaurant on site (31%)
7.  Space to work away from desk (26%)
8.  A gym on site/ Pool Table/ Dartboard (15%)
9.  Good colour scheme (13%)
10.High ceilings (13%)

The survey also discovered that office environments can be a determining factor when people are seeking to move jobs.

Nearly 90% of Brits who work inside say that the state of the office plays a key role in whether or not they say yes to a new job.

In actual fact, when requested to liken it to other factors, only the salary and the people are deemed to be more essential, with the state of the place outranking ‘progression opportunities’ (45%), ‘company culture’ (39%) and ‘benefits’ such as gym association (33%).
